Okay, I have a site on Family Caregiving, which means that a lot of the writing that I do is about health related issues, so when I was looking for things to chatter about in my blogs and saw http://www.OurHealthNetwork.com/ it caught my eye. This is a site that has board certified doctors going back to the good old days of house calls and friendly comments on what is ailing a person. In operation since 1999 this site allows visitors to ask board certified physicians about various medical conditions (causes, symptoms, self-help treatments, etc). OurHealthNetwork.com is a collection of sites for doctors that each have a specific specialty that they share information on and answer questions about - free of charge.They can not diagnose a condition, but if you know you have it and want something clarified about what you should be doing or avoiding then this looks to me like an invaluable place to start looking. I have a bunch of questions myself about diabetes and strokes and this site gives me access to people that can answer things about these conditions.
While they offer free advice it is obvious that there has to be a means of financing this endeavor. An advertiser-free site they make their money through the sale of products that visitors might need. Offering these products at discounted prices. There is no need to purchase anything, however, to benefit from the advice offered on the site.
