Travel Writing on a Whim

I have been thinking a lot about travel lately and it occurred to me that writers miss a lot of chances to turn their hand to travel writing. Visiting friends or family? Carry along a notebook and keep a log of things that you want to talk about in an article on the place you have traveled to. Going out to an out of the way place that you know tourists in your area frequent? Take along a notebook and look at it from a local's perspective so that you can share tips and tricks with travelers and let them know about things that they would have missed as they passed through the area.
