Share Wisdom for Writers

I was directed to a website called Share Wisdom, which is basically a website that promotes the sharing of what you know with others. It's a neat concept that has been done before, and I even have a site like that for fantasy writers, but I think there's always room for more places that promote what the Internet is all about - shared knowledge.

Right now Share Wisdom is not very large, with only a handful of subjects and a scattering of information in each. A good time to help add to the basic core of information on a site like that. I'm planning to add in some information for writing when I get a chance to slow down some, since I don't see anything about that on Share Wisdom and it was the first thing I looked for.

Hi Sandra,

Thank for visiting the site.

I have a question for you, you mention:

"It's a neat concept that has been done before"

Can you tell me where you have seen that done before as I am curious.

Thanks.
Brian

Hi Brian,

Thanks for visiting my blog.

As for where I have seen the concept of shared information in the past: The sharing of information by site members is, in a broad sense, what Wiki's are - most notably Wikipedia.

In the more defined sense; I have seen a similar concept at a site called Helium, where the site is a user created reference source. Their about page says: "Helium is the place to read-up on real-world experiences. Even better, Helium offers more than one point of view, to help decision-making."

While I think Share Wisdom is an excellent resource site that I hope grows quickly to its potential, it is my past experience with the Helium site that led to my comment on the concept having been done before.

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for clarifying. I agree that Helium is similiar - I was not aware of it when I started the site.

I do have a lot of features planned for the site that are not yet in place and I think that will lead to some differences between Share Wisdom and Helium.

Thanks for having a look at the site and for your nice words.

Brian

I look forward to watching the site grow Brian, it's already in my bookmarks as one that I plan to stop into from time to time. Best of luck with it.
