The new HD DVD "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" has a deal called the "Progressive Direct: Insurance Damage Estimates," that the viewer can turn on to get a running total of damage estimates such as: "Roof repair: $209, taillights: $451, fender: $618."
It is the first of what could be a stream of branded interactive features on DVDs. The technology is possible because the new HD DVD formats have about six times as much data capacity as standard DVDs, giving extra space to the studios for not only high-definition video and enhanced audio, but also interactive features such as games, picture-in-picture commentaries and Web links.
I'd like to see a movie that totals up what the writer went through to get the screenplay written: "Current scene: late night pizza binge, Current scene: five days pacing floor pulling out hair, Current scene: inspiration struck when door hit nose as wife entered room as writer was leaving it." and so on
