I would like to know what people think about fan fiction, also called fan fic, fanfic or fic.
I know that some authors encourage it while others vehemently stomp it out with lawyers that descend upon the fic writer with all kinds of legal documents demanding that the fic be destroyed and the person who wrote it be made to atone for their sins.
What is your point of view? Do you like it? Hate it? Would you encourage it for your novels or stamp it out with an iron fist? Have you read or maybe even wrote it at some point? Do you currently write it? If so - why do you write it?
What is your view on fanfic writers in general? Favorable or are they lower than lawyers?
