Paper everywhere

Okay, explain to me why it is that a writer's desk gets buried under scraps of paper? I mean, I do a good percent of the writing on the computer, not a typewriter, so how come i have to unearth the desk all over again every day? Does this affliction strike others, or just writers? Are we, as writers, predisposed to being clutter magnets for paper scraps? Hmmm... makes you wonder, don't it?
