Some days it absolutely amazes me that I can manage to write. Stress leaves me in kind of a zony haze most of the day, enough so that last night my brother-in-law gave my mom and dad a ride back home after my sister took them to one of dad's doctor appointments and shopping, and my brother-in-law asked me if some empty boxes were mom's or my sister's - I went to the back bedroom and asked my mom, by the time I made it back to the front room I had forgot who's she said they were and had to turn right back around and go back and ask her again.
My brother-in-law looked at me oddly and I just shrugged at him and said "It's called burnout."
And, it is. It's a very real condition called caregiver burnout (you can Google it, it's real) and it is a build up of stress from the every day requirements of providing full-time care for someone else. It can lead to anything from forgetfulness to unexplainable feelings of anger.
One of the most noticeable symptoms for me is the inability to focus my thoughts and keep them focused. That makes it hard to work on writing projects and leaves me forgetting about things that I was working on. (Explains some of the started and not finished stuff on the blogs, huh?)
So, some days, it just amazes me that I can write at all.
