I have been making up sheets that can help me with plotting out articles easier. These are printouts that show the working title, the target market, type of article I am writing, what my topic is, the angle I am writing it from, what my opening is and then has space for notes on the body of the article and references I have used for it.
So far it seems to be working good. When I have revised it a little more and have it how I want it I'll get it up on The Writing Office as a downloadable PDF file.

That's an interesting approach. I, on the other hand use a mind map client to help me map out how my article is going to be laid out, and what it's going to contain. I find it very effective too.
