Muse on the loose

Okay, here ya go, I am going to shoo a muse out of the open cage in the writing office. Yes, that's right, the door on the cage of muses in my office stays open. I believe in leaving it up to the muses rather they stay or fly off. They seem to be more inclined to stay when extended this courtesy.

So, here's a muse for you, catch it if you can.

Write a brief story, your chosen genera and length, that includes the following:
  • A red pen that is out of ink
  • A plant of some kind (wild or houseplant, even just a piece of a plant such as a flower in a vase or a pressed leaf - a fossilized plant imprint maybe?)
  • A coffee mug
  • Something made of crystal (a chandelier, figurine, quartz point, whatever you can devise as long as it's crystal)
  • and since it's 5 in the morning as I write this I am making you use five things in this story, the last one is the number 5. Whether it is used as the time, the number of something, how often an important fact is repeated, a string of the same word said five times in succession... again, use your imagination and have fun.
And that's it. Empty red pen, plant, mug, crystal, and the number 5. Go open your favorite word processing program and have fun creating something mindless to free up them muses.

And good luck in all your writing endeavors.
