If you ask five different people how many basic plot types there are, chances are fairly good that you will get at least two, possibly five different answers. You may even get more possible answers if one or more of the people are uncertain between two different answers.
I am going to take a look at plots with the assumption that there are thirty-six different plot types, simply because I want to cover as many types as possible and that is the largest number that I can find detailed anywhere on the internet.
