My new novel website

I have started outlining what I need to add to my website I got for my novel that I am working on. I'm thinking I'll put up things like maps and scenery pictures and assorted stuff that I can use as reference materials. I want to be careful in what I put up, since I don't want to accidentally damage my chances of having someone publish the novel later on, but I want to start building interest in it. I need to check out other writer's sites and see how much they talk about their works in progress on the sites, build from there I guess.
