Packing the briefcase for my trip - what to take?

What do you take with you when you go traveling for business? I am going to be packing my work suitcase tonight and I am starting to drive myself batty trying to decide what I want to put into the thing. I know my laptop goes in there, and I need to include my smaller laptop bag which the laptop fits in perfectly and the two of them fit in where a standard laptop would go in the larger bag, but I am still sorting through what else I need.

I have got some of those mini highlighter pens that are intended to be connected to a notebook and instead of hooking them to a notebook I have them on a keyring with a small sized thumb drive. They are clipped to the keyholder inside my briefcase and can be tucked into a pocket inside of it, then pulled out of the pocket for easy access when I need them.

I need to erase the things I have on that thumb drive since it had been for backing other things up, and use it for backups of my writing during this trip.

I also have to see if I can get a more travel friendly card reader, since the cards for my camera do not fit into my laptop. I have a nice small sized reader, but I would like to find an even smaller sized one and get a bigger sized card for my camera so I can take more pictures before I have to worry about unloading them from my camera to the computer.
