Writing Resolutions

Have you made up your mind yet on what you will be resolving this year? Is writing a novel a part of your plans for a New Year's resolution? Whether you are planning to start and finish your novel, or you merely want to get a short story written, perhaps even published, you want to make sure that you can stick with your goal.

After years of making resolutions that were, looking back, fairly unreasonable for me. I have determined that this year I need to make a reasonable resolution about my writing. I am going to resolve not to write 3 pages a day every day, or even 3 pages 5 days a week. I am not going to resolve to get 10 articles published or a novel published and another finished.

No, this year I will be resolving to work on my blogs and websites, to get a set amount of writing done in a day five days a week - not only on novels, but on all writing, and to write an 80,000 word novel between January 1st and December 31st. People write 50,000 words in November, I have done that, shoot, I once write over 80,000 words in 30 days, so I should be able to handle 80,000 words in 365 days, right? That's only 219 words a day. So if I can resolve to write an average of 1,500 words a week on my novel, then it will be finished in one year's time.

I think I will include that as a resolution. Write 1,500 words each week on a novel and get x amount of work done on my websites and blogs each week.

So, what are your writing resolutions? Have you written a blog posting about it yet? Or just want to make a fast comment about them here?
