The Golden Globe Awards have been canceled due to the ongoing writer's strike. The Golden Globe Awards officially announced on their website that the recipients of the awards will be revealed during an hour-long HFPA press conference that will be held at The Beverly Hilton and is scheduled to be covered live by NBC News.
The press conference will be held on January 13th at 6:00 pm PST.
As of yesterday's press release post to the Golden Globe site the NBC telecast of the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards, and the champagne dinner in The Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom, has been officially canceled.
Jorge Camara, President of The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, said; “We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favorite stars celebrating 2007’s outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television.”
The cost to Los Angeles is estimated to be in the billions of dollars without taking into account the loss in revenue for the multiple after awards parties and the impact that the lack of red carpet visibility may have on the fashion industry.
I'm still rooting for the writers, but I think now I will go find their website and find out more about what's going on than bits I have heard from the news here and there.
