Creating Your Own Writer's Retreat

With all of this talk about writing articles and ideas flying around I am reminded of how ery difficult it is to actually find the time to be able to write. Not everyone can afford to go to one of those fancy writing retreats that allow you to sequester yourself away with nothing but you, your writing materials and your muses to keep you company. For some of us the only thing we can do is think up ways to create our own writer's retreat. I discovered that it was not so very hard when I went to Las Vegas. I detest hanging out in casinos, so it was an easy choice for me to spend my non-convention time sitting in my hotel room working on my writing. Because of the date I bought my tickets and the online system that I used to find the cheapest priced for airfare and hotel, I ended up having my least expensive tickets leaving me in Las Vegas a little before and after the convention I was going to attend. I made use of that extra time by designing my very own writer's retreat that let me enjoy all the comforts of being able to connect with my muses and refresh my energies without the thousands of dollars that a retreat can cost. It also taught me that sometimes a writing retreat can be a very small intimate escape scheduled into the busy press of an otherwise rushed business trip. It is a nice way to unwind before returning home from a weekend of long seminars and rubbing elbows with others in your industry.
