New Technology Combines Books and Television

I was just reading about this very cool bit of new technology that combines the features of a book with that of a television. While developers are still trying to decide on a name for the gadget, the market is already buzzing about its potential. The Novel-R as one source has dubbed it (for Novel Remote) is a small PDA type device that lets you sit on your sofa and browse through downloaded television guide listings and articles.

When you find something that you like you can use a stylus to change to the proper channel on your television with just a tap of the touchscreen. Want to know more about a show you are watching on the Discovery Channel? Just tap the screen and bring up Discovery.com with quick links based on the show you are watching easily integrated into a frames view of the website.

U. Behad, a spokesperson for the company developing the new technology, said, "This will revolutionize the industry and bring new life back into watching television. Imagine, being able to watch a movie while reading the novel it is based on."

Competitors have already been racing to create knock-offs, one designer, an educational technology company known as Far F Tch Ed., has been looking at the educational possibilities of students being able to interact with the televised programs shown in class from a textbook loaded onto their readers.

The bottom line on the whole concept however is all in the timing. Experts agree that this would be a very cool product to have developed, and the writer of this post would like it known she wants credit and compensation if anyone does create such a product.
