What Chronicling Narnia can teach writers

I watched the documentary Chronicling Narnia the other day, it was worth watching, but it was a lot more about the life of C.S. Lewis than it was about the books. I would have liked a bit more insight into the books and their creation, the elements that made them so successful and so forth.
About the only true gem for a writer to take away from the documentary is something i would hope every writer already knows about what makes a book a success: "he doesn't pad the narrative, he doesn't get bored, he really, really wants to tell a good story. And he does."
If someone is not writing to tell a good story, then I would have to wonder why they are writing at all.
Still, if you are a fan of C.S. Lewis, or know of someone that is, this is a wonderful look into his life and a peek at what might have shaped the creation of the popular series. Highly recommended for fans of the classic children's stories.
