BlackBerry... you make jam out of them things, right?

I was called yesterday by my friend in California who wanted to test out her new BlackBerry for her cell phone. I'm not exactly the most tech savvy person out there, I keep hearing "BlackBerry", but I'm not exactly sure what one is. Just give me a good old cell phone that does what I want it to and I'll be happy.

The Hardware Geeks have two BlackBerry's in the list of the Wirefly Top 5 Smartphones they have up. These are the best selling smartphones on Wirefly according to market trends.

It's amazing to me, 2007 first quarter sales of smartphones grew 70% according to Wirefly from the third quarter of 2006. 70%! Maybe I do need a smarter phone, they are popular.

And I have to say, my friend was rather excited about just being able to say my name and this little deal you can hardly see in her ear called me. LOL! I was actually impressed by the quality. I've been on her speaker phone on her cell phone a lot, and she has to sit right there by the phone to talk to me and can't wander around unless she takes the phone, then it has to be held just right for optimum talking. And she sounds like she's in a tunnel filled with water. The BlackBerry she called me on yesterday was kewl though, it was clear with just a little distortion I guess you'd call it. My mom didn't recognize her voice at first, but the reception was clear.

I wanted to torment V as she went shopping in Wal-Mart because she said she was getting funny stares from people that could not see the phone so it was just like she was talking to herself to the others around her (Who I couldn't hear, yet I could hear her - very KEWL!) She switched to normal phone for in the store though, drat it.
