Do you do all of your writing on the computer or a word processor? If so then I challenge you to try doing some writing on an old fashioned legal pad or in a notebook, using a pen or pencil.
No typewriters, no PDAs, no digital pads that you can write on and it shows up in the compute. A old fashioned pad and pencil.
Give your muses a half hour to an hour of this and see what they do with the change in medium.
