Southern Textile News ceases publication as of Sunday

After over 60 years of publication the trade publication Southern Textile News will print its final issue on Sunday. Founded on August 9, 1945 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the publication presented a weekly publication (it switched to a bi-weekly format in 2003) that initially announced the goal of: "primary concern is to give the textile executive, and all those engaged in textile production and related enterprise through the South, a live non-technical industrial newspaper of their own."

Over the years Southern Textile News surpassed being a Southern textile publication and became a global publication.

At $25 for 24 issues throughout the year the publication was, I am sure, a vital resource for those in the textiles industry. As with so many other publications, however, the advertising revenue simply is not there. With a decline in the advertising, and a drop in the U.S. Textile industry the publisher of Southern Textile News has made the decision that the publication is simply not sustainable and has made the decision to cease publication as of its final printing on this coming Sunday. In addition to a cease in publication, the company will cease operation of its website, www.textilenews.com, as well.
