I was just told by a friend that writer / director John Hughes passed away this morning. The news reported that he was visiting New York City when he died of a heart attack during what was a regular morning walk.
I was amazed, when I looked at John Hughes' IMDB listing, by just how many of my favorite movies he was a part of.
While Mr. Hughes all but faded from the Hollywood scene, the films he was a part of are the kind of films that will live forever. National Lampoon's Family Vacation series, the Beethoven series, Uncle Buck, Planes Trains & Automobiles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles to name just a few.
Heartfelt condolences to Mr. Hughes' family.
