Book announcement - "Surprise! Now You're a Software Project Manager" by Bas de Baar

Bas de Baar has announced his new project management book. I have been on the receiving end of those surprise announcements by the boss that "Oh, by the way, you're in charge of this project." I could certainly have used this book then. I also have a friend that has had this same kind of surprise dropped in her lap a few times.

The PM book approaches software project management in terms that help the beginner understand what they are getting into and how they can survive it. Letting them know what is expected, where to start, even what you should be focused on as you work. This is the book to get if you suddenly find yourself in charge and wishing you had called in sick that day (or perhaps had not been the only one absent from the meeting when they volunteered you for the project).
