Time Management - this is something I need

Managing the time that I have in a day, vs what I have to do during that day, can be a balancing act that is certain to be doomed to failure. Between my writing commitments, my caregiver commitments and my desire to spend time with my friends, my need to get exercise if I am ever going to get back down to my weight before stress hit and ... what am I forgetting? Oh yeah, sleep. I used to be able to find the time to sleep, didn't I?

Probably sounds familiar, don't it? Even if you are not overweight and a full-time family caregiver you no doubt have more on your time than you have time to get it all finished.

That's why the time management guide caught my eye when I saw them. If a few minutes of looking into something can possibly help me better manage my time and in doing so find more time to do what I need to do, then it's time well spent. And make no mistake, time is money for me. When you write for a living the better and faster you can write the more money you can earn per hour. And as a weird sort of hunt and peck typist that can half the time not bother looking at the keys and half the time has to study the board to find the "A", time is not something to be wasted.

So what exactly did I discover when I looked into the time management guide at Time Thoughts?

Well, they started out with something that makes a lot of sense. "The key to time management is to realize that you cannot possibly do everything that there is to do; instead, you have to consciously decide what you are going to do with the limited amount of time that you have at your disposal."

Works for me, but, uhhh... how exactly do I keep from falling back into the loop of minor things eating into my time? They say they can help me to reduce or even eliminate wasted time - that's good! They also want to help me be more productive so I can accomplish more with less effort. Less effort is good. And they want to help me set and achieve my long term goals.

How exactly are they planning to do this (and other things I didn't mention above)?

An eBook. But don't be fooled, I found a lot of great stuff on the site by looking around and following their links to things like more detailed information on time management tips, the community forum (down when I visited the site, drat-it) and so much more. And I plan to check into the time management course that they offer for free.

Take a look, take a look around, and see what tips you can find that can help you manage your time better.

I have found the "Getting things done" method of David Allen's very helpful. I use it with my BlackBerry. I have learned that you cannot manage time, but manage yourself around time :-)
